Embedded Device Penetration Testing

Embedded devices run for years in the field, often without updates. We test the hardware and firmware for weaknesses that could let an attacker extract secrets, modify behaviour or pivot into your network.

Why teams choose Adiroha

  • Manual-first testing, not scanner dumps
  • OSCP, OSWE and CEH certified testers
  • Findings mapped to ISO 27001, SOC 2 and PCI DSS controls
  • Retest and closure letter to prove fixes

Scope

What we cover

  • UART, JTAG and SWD debug interface access
  • Firmware extraction and reverse engineering
  • Secure boot and code-signing verification
  • Hard-coded credentials and cryptographic keys
  • Update mechanism security
  • Memory-safety issues in firmware services

Deliverables

What you receive

  • Hardware and firmware findings with evidence
  • Board-level remediation guidance
  • Secure-update recommendations
  • Retest and closure letter

How we work

Discover. Assess. Remediate. Validate.

01

Discover

Agree scope, assets, test windows and rules of engagement. Every project gets a unique audit code for tracking.

02

Assess

Manual-first testing aligned to recognised standards, with critical issues flagged to you immediately.

03

Remediate

Findings ranked by business impact, with clear fix guidance and a walkthrough with your engineers.

04

Validate

We retest your fixes, update the report and issue a closure letter you can share.

FAQ

Common questions

Is embedded testing different from IoT testing?

Embedded testing goes deeper into the device's hardware and firmware. IoT testing covers the full ecosystem, including apps and cloud.

Do you need schematics?

They help but aren't required. We can work from the device alone.

What tools and equipment do you use?

Logic analysers, debug probes, flash programmers and firmware analysis tools, alongside standard software testing tools.

Can you test devices still in development?

Yes. Testing prototypes lets you fix hardware and firmware issues before production, when changes are far cheaper.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes. We sign NDAs as standard and handle hardware, firmware and design documents under agreed confidentiality terms.
